The church is a building shaped as a Greek cross, with frescoes of the XVII century built by Caesare Sermei and Giacomo Giorgetti. Inside the church there are some relics of St. Francis and the first Minor Friars.
Always inside the church you can accede to the birthplace of St. Francis, of which you can see the front door and the warehouse of Bernadone Peter, the father of the Saint.
NOTE: The frescoes from the early '900 were covered by a layer of pseudo marble and no one, until now, could have imagined what was hided beneath. The ancient splendor has returned to light thanks to the sensibility of the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Ancona and the munificent generosity of Mr. Sergey Matvienko of St. Petersburg
